Colt 3rd Model Thuer derringer. Early model with pregnant frame. Gun has all early features: pregnant frame, tight curl and high hammer. The barrel address is faint, but one can still make out the early marking. Barrel has been cleaned, and there is light pitting in places. The frame is very good with no real scratches or marks visible. Grips have been refinished, but fit well. Interestingly, there is no serial number under the grips and there never was one. under the barrel is the serial number 135. There is also a number on the flat of the frame 33. The serial number fore these guns should only be on the underside of the barrel and underneath the grips. It is possible that the Colt factory neglected to put the number on the frame and as for the presence of the 33, it could be an assembly number. We have consulted another expert who had no explanation either. Gun is a sharp early gun with no alterations other than the grips. Priced reasonably at:

Luger 1920 .30 caliber carbine. Barrel is the only numbered part. Has an excellent bore and has its shoulder stock. This carbine is an excellent restoration to mint condition. 1920 carbines were assembled from left over parts after WWI. As a result there are a lot of variations of the 1920 carbine with mismatched parts, parts with no numbers early and late parts mixed in assembly and so on. There are far fewer examples of 1920 than those of the model 1902 carbine. Mint condition.

Bores are very good and for the most part bright and shiny excluding the area just forward of the chambers where there is medium pitting. Rare Colt Richards Conversion. U.S. marked on most parts. Serial number #1195 (also matching on all parts). Excellent grips with excellent cartouche. Gun has a light gray patina and some light pitting. Excellent mechanically and generally good plus to very good overall. These "M" marked conversion have been the subject of 2 articles, one in Gun Report and one in the Rampant Colt. Bruce McDowell believed these to be model gun submitted to the Ordnance Dept. In Charles Pates article, he opines that there were 50 of the "M" guns so marked by Colt to identify the gun. The gun was fitted with the "Locke attachment" which was a safety feature on the hammer. Mr Pates notes that 5 examples have come to light- our revolver, serial #1195 makes the 6th. Rare and certainly interesting. Gun is US and "A" for Ainsworth Inspected.

Confederate Enfield Musket with Sinclair Hamilton marking. Very rare Confederate Inspected Enfield Musket. Has the Sinclair Hamilton Inspection mark directly in front of the buttplate tang. Gun also has a cartouche on the left side near lock plate screws of a J C in a circle. At one time, this was believed to have been James Chattaway who was an inspector for sample arms. Most now believe that this was an unknown English Inspector for the Confederate contracts. The Sinclair-Hamilton Company was one of the primary suppliers to the Confederacy and the mark is a crown with a S H over a C and a number. The S H C stands for Sinclair-Hamilton and Company. The barrel has light pitting in places, but mostly has a smooth brown patina. The wood is pretty sharp and this gun is in much better than average condition for a Confederate gun. This gun does not show much use rather it was poorly stored. These guns have become very popular as more information has surfaced as to what the marks on them mean. There are rumors that a new book on the Confederate Enfields will be coming out shortly.

Starr Percussion carbine identified to Robert C. Stewart of the 17th Illinois regiment. All information was found in the National Archives by noted researcher Vonnie Zullo. Copies of the Muster roll cards and Mr. Stewart’s correspondence with Bureau of Pensions are all included. Stewart, by way of his muster cards, we learn that he was court martialled for larceny and was imprisoned at St. Josephs, MO and then refused service for the western frontier and therefore was charged with mutiny and sent to Ft. Leavenworth. He applied for a pension in 1890 for his injuries he sustained while chasing a group of Gordon’s Guerillas. The records also contain the serial numbers of the guns and who each gun was issued to. This gun apparently saw more action after it left Stewart’s possession. Lightly carved in the stock is the name John Childres. Underneath is the name J A Childres. Upon preliminary research there was only one John A. Childress in the Civil War and he served the state of Georgia for the Confederate Army. Very interesting and historical gun!

Gun is game scene engraved with ducks on a pond and grouse in a brushy area on the opposite side. Ringneck pheasants are engraved on the bottom of the receiver. Triggerguard is Buffalo horn. Remington UMC Derringer .41 RF caliber derringer. Remington Over/Under Derringer with Monoblock barrels. This is a later production gun where approximately 500 or so of these guns were made with the monoblock barrels. These guns have an hour glass profile to the barrels while the earlier guns have a rib milled in the between the barrels which gives the profile of two barrels attached together like a shotgun. Gun condition is very fine with about 85% of the original finish. Grips are excellent. Bore is also excellent and the mechanics work perfectly. Hinge is uncracked.

Excellent original blue remains throughout the barrel and very good case colors remain. All inspectors marks are present as well. Conversion numbers are all present matching 156 with the exception of the cylinder which is marked 256. Clearly a factory error. This is part of a contract of 800 that was sold to the government for arming the Buffalo soldiers. Many of these guns were sent to Texas.
