Colt 1849 Pocket Inscribed Colt 1849 pocket revolver. Backstrap of this gun is inscribed “J.O. Tannehill Philadelphia/ Penn.” We were unable to find anyone in the U.S. military with the initials J.O. Tannehill, however we did find a Joseph Tannehill that enlisted in the Army in 1887 in Philadelphia. At the time he was 23 years old. The gun itself was made in 1862. We can not say for sure that this is the man listed on the gun, but it is a possibility. Over all, this gun is in very good condition, with blue remaining on the barrel. Has a very good cylinder scene and excellent grips. This is an above average Pocket 49 that should be researched further.

Colt 1849 Pocket model cased revolver with 4” barrel and one line New York address. Case and enscribed on backstrap and butt. "John H. Dockstader Co B. 153 NY". He was enlisted about 1862 in monawk NY, promoted to Lt. 9-30-65. Sharp gun with excellent cylinder scene and grips. Case has eagle and stars flask, Colt patent mold and cap can.
