Gun appears to have been made about 1850. Barrel is 28 1/2" and overall length is 45". Barrel has about 90% blue, lock has about 98% case colors. Stock is very good, some varnish wear with minor nicks and dings. Bore is approximately 20 gauge.

Clark & Musgrave Heavy Barrel .44 caliber target rifle. Smooth brown patina on barrel. Gun is very sharp and barrel has very sharp edges. Weighs 16 lbs. The original false muzzle accompanies this gun is complete. Stock has decorative checkering near forend cap and around butt plate. Old repair at wrist that was done with brass plates. Each plate is lightly engraved with an eagles head on the left and a tortoise on the right. Nice colorful gun.

English Flintlock Sporting rifle by Perry. Has a Roller Frizzen. Gun is very good plus with most of its original brown finish (beginning to thin) on the barrel. Stock is very good plus with perfect checkering. Stock has an expert repair just forward of the Frizzen. Trigger guard is engraved and has a nice pineapple finial. Barrel length is 30 1/2", overall length 45". This is a very well made rifle.

Evans Transitional old model musket. Estimated at 150 made. Has an excellent bore and excellent stock. Barrel exterior has some light pits and spots. Frame on left side does as well. Gun still retains about 90-93% blue. Action works fine. The rifle does not show much use at all but probably got some rust due to bad storage.

Freund Brothers marked Remington rolling block rifle. Very scarce and desirable rolling block. Freund brothers were frontier gunsmith that were out of Denver and Durango. While they are most famous for their Sharps rifles, they sold numerous other guns. All of their guns are considered to be used on the western frontier. The book Freund Bros. Pioneer Gunmakers to the West by Pablo Balentine comes with this gun. This is a great western piece and guaranteed original!

Fries Swiss target rifle. Very fine extra heavy Swiss made target rifle marked "I Fries in Bern". The gun weights about 24 lbs with a 37" Octagon damascus barrel of about .65 caliber. The metalwork is exceptionally fine.The lock is engraved with a charging beast with the front of the lock outlining the open mouth, a beautifully detailed sea serpent is inlaid on the reverse side, with a neo-classical urn design inlaid on the underside of the stock and leaf scroll engraving throughout. A very beautiful and ornate example of Swiss gunmaking.

German Jager rifle by G.F. Stormer in Herzberg. Approximately .60 caliber. Barrel is 29 1/2" long and overall 46" long. Gun has double set triggers. Barrel and breech plug are silver inlaid as is the Stormer name on the barrel. Front sight has a silver arrow through it pointing forward. All of the engraved metal parts are beautifully outline in silver. Patchbox depicts a stag leaping over a fallen tree. Lock has a fawn in a woodland setting. Upper tang near the breech shows a reclining fawn in a woodland setting. Hammer has an intercepting lever safety. Condition is very fine.

Ketland Chief Grade Indian Trade rifle, very scarce. 45 3/8" barrel that is very clean for the most part with the only pitting concentrated around the pan. Lock is marked Ketland & Co. with the Boar in a circle towards the rear. Side plate is a Serpentine pattern like the guns illustrated in Jim Gordons book: Great Gun Makers for the Early West, but unlike the guns in the book the side plate is not flat, it has high relief. This gun has the Chief head medallion present in the top of the wrist. Very fine original Chief Grade Indian Trade gun!

Perry Sporting rifle converted to carbine. Very Rare. This example has replaced wood. The metal was cleaned long ago and the barrel was shortened. These guns had a unique system where there was a compartment in the butt that could hold 50 percussion caps that would automatically be put on the nipple when the breech was opened. While it remains in place, it does not appear to be functional. Bore on gun is very good and no major pitting is visible.

Gun has factory letter and was sent to Charles Witney of Red Wing Mn. Witney was an immigrant from England who became a citizen and eventually a doctor. Sharps 1874 #2 Creedmore rifle. Barrel has very fine blue with some thinning and plum patina emerging. Traces of case color on the frame, but mostly a dark gray patina. Wood is very good and forend has early “Hartford collar”. Front sight is a modern replacement as well as the stem. The base for the stem is original. Gun letters as a Creedmore but does not mention the grade. Only 12 of the #2 were made and this gun conforms to the description but the grade is not mentioned in the factory letter. This gun was shipped to J.P. Moore in New York who was a Sharps dealer. Very rare gun priced reasonably!

Sharps 1874 A Series .45-70 caliber rifle. Smooth gray patina on metal. Repair around upper tang on right hand side that was expertly done to where it is almost imperceptible. Gun has a nice bore. These guns were made out of leftover parts and marked with an A on the left hand side of the frame for assembled. Gun comes with factory letter confirming all features. Wm Read & Son Boston Very heavy barrel target rifle. Measures 1 7/16” diameter. Has double set triggers. Gun weighs 16 lbs. G.B. Fogg Manchester New Hampshire cast steel on barrel. Lock is retailed marked. Barrel is very sharp and shows most of its original finish that is thinning to a blue-brown patina. Very fine New England target rifle. Wood is very good with pewter forend cap. All other furniture is brass. Approximately 42 caliber.

Zimmerstutzen but very unusual. Breech is rifled for about 12” & is small & opens to a very large bore (this is the reverse of a usual Zimmerstutzen where the front 12” of barrel is rifled).
