Clark & Musgrave Heavy Barrel .44 caliber target rifle. Smooth brown patina on barrel. Gun is very sharp and barrel has very sharp edges. Weighs 16 lbs. The original false muzzle accompanies this gun is complete. Stock has decorative checkering near forend cap and around butt plate. Old repair at wrist that was done with brass plates. Each plate is lightly engraved with an eagles head on the left and a tortoise on the right. Nice colorful gun.

E. Anschutz Philadelphia Halfstock target rifle. German Silver mounts. Gun is factory engraved. Barrel is 31" long and is 47" overall. Stock has a Tyrolean style cheek piece and Swiss style finger rest trigger guard. Stock is excellent as is the checkering. Gun has double set triggers. Gun has fitting for tang sight. Sight is missing but barrel has the rear barrel sight and hooded front sight. Barrel is knurled on the top flat for the last 5" to reduce glare.

English Flintlock Sporting rifle by Perry. Has a Roller Frizzen. Gun is very good plus with most of its original brown finish (beginning to thin) on the barrel. Stock is very good plus with perfect checkering. Stock has an expert repair just forward of the Frizzen. Trigger guard is engraved and has a nice pineapple finial. Freund Brothers marked Remington rolling block rifle. Very scarce and desirable rolling block. Freund brothers were frontier gunsmith that were out of Denver and Durango. While they are most famous for their Sharps rifles, they sold numerous other guns. All of their guns are considered to be used on the western frontier. The book Freund Bros. Pioneer Gunmakers to the West by Pablo Balentine comes with this gun. This is a great western piece and guaranteed original!

Fries Swiss target rifle. Very fine extra heavy Swiss made target rifle marked "I Fries in Bern". The gun weights about 24 lbs with a 37" Octagon damascus barrel of about .65 caliber. The metalwork is exceptionally fine.The lock is engraved with a charging beast with the front of the lock outlining the open mouth, a beautifully detailed sea serpent is inlaid on the reverse side, with a neo-classical urn design inlaid on the underside of the stock and leaf scroll engraving throughout. A very beautiful and ornate example of Swiss gunmaking.

German Jager rifle by G.F. Stormer in Herzberg. Approximately .60 caliber. Barrel is 29 1/2" long and overall 46" long. Gun has double set triggers. Barrel and breech plug are silver inlaid as is the Stormer name on the barrel. Front sight has a silver arrow through it pointing forward. All of the engraved metal parts are beautifully outline in silver. Patchbox depicts a stag leaping over a fallen tree. Lock has a fawn in a woodland setting. Upper tang near the breech shows a reclining fawn in a woodland setting. Hammer has an intercepting lever safety. Condition is very fine.

Gwyn & Campbell Type II Carbine. Gun has medium to heavy pitting on both lock barrel and buttplate. Wood has nicks and dings, but the cartouche is still visible. Bore is very good with some pitting, but mostly bright and shiny which indicated the condition of the gun reflects poor storage instead of heavy use. Most reasonably priced Gwyn and Campbell we have seen in a while!

Japanese Matchlock rifle. Barrel length 40 1/2" and overall length 52". Barrel is inlaid and overlaid with a plum tree and crane motif in silver. Masterfully executed and finely detailed. Has the family "Mon" in silver (family crest). Stock is decorated with Peonies and a Shi shi near the butt on the right side. Condition is very fine. We have owned many decorated matchlocks, some more highly decorated, some in new condition but this matchlock is so nicely done and is so striking in appearance, that you can only see is as "elegant".

Sharps 1874 #2 Creedmore rifle. Barrel has very fine blue with some thinning and plum patina emerging. Traces of case color on the frame, but mostly a dark gray patina. Wood is very good and forend has early “Hartford collar”. Front sight is a modern replacement as well as the stem. The base for the stem is original. Gun letters as a Creedmore but does not mention the grade. Only 12 of the #2 were made and this gun conforms to the description but the grade is not mentioned in the factory letter. This gun was shipped to J.P. Moore in New York who was a Sharps dealer. Very rare gun priced reasonably!

Unusual rifle. Stock, buttplate and lock appear Germanic. The barrel is Indian in our opinion. It has gold overlay in profusion over the length of the barrel. The barrel ends in a flared swamped muzzle. Buttplate is engraved with a panoply of arms and floral motifs. Barrel length is 48" and overall length is 64". Excellent length with gold decorated barrel.

Unusual Percussion .36 caliber double rifle by John Smith. (No state named.) We feel this is a Vermont or New. Hampshire rifle. Frank Sellers book, American Gunsmiths lists about 20 John Smiths. The form and stock contours appear to be Vermont or New Hampshire. This rifle has a single adjustable set trigger that functions for both barrels. You just cock and set and fire one barrel, then repeat for the other. If you cock and set and fire both barrels, then they fire together. Gun has a folding "Lollipop" rear sight as well as barrel sight. Both barrels are rifled and appear to have good bores. Barrel length is 32" and 48" overall. Nice double rifle in very good condition.

Vermont Heavy Barrel .50 caliber target rifle. Barrel marked T. Lamson (Truman Lamson, Bennington, VT. 1841-1865.) Lock is marked Irving, Smith and Hyslop. They were New York lock makers. Gun has a bullet starter. Barrel is grooved to accept an iron cross rest for bench shooting. Gun has an adjustable single set trigger. Gun weighs 19 lbs.

Very Rare Green Sporting rifle, possibly a prototype. This gun has a 22" barrel with a 36 caliber bore (normal caliber is 54). The opening of the action is different from the military models as they have two triggers and this gun has a button on the upper tang that unlocks the action. The stock has a deluxe grain and is checkered which looks to be factory quality. The lock has a maynard tape primer system. There are no markings anywhere on the metal or wood. Bore is excellent. Very interesting gun that appears to be a sporting rifle and may have been a prototype.

Wm Read & Son Boston Very heavy barrel target rifle. Measures 1 7/16” diameter. Has double set triggers. Gun weighs 16 lbs. G.B. Fogg Manchester New Hampshire cast steel on barrel. Lock is retailed marked. Barrel is very sharp and shows most of its original finish that is thinning to a blue-brown patina. Very fine New England target rifle.
