Catalan Flintlock Pistol (AH4833)

Catalan Flintlock Pistol. No makers mark. Probably made in Ripoll, circa 1780. Barrel length is 3¾” and overall length is 7¾. Bore is approximately .50 caliber. The pistol has silver intaglio inlay on the barrel. The cameos are in silver and depict a figure with a helmet and a grotesque mask on the cap of the butt. Brass parts are very well engraved. The stock is excellent with no chips or cracks. The barrel is two stage from octagonal to round ending at the canon shape muzzle accented by a knurled ring. This is a fine and well-made example of Catalonian workmanship. Note: The frizzen has been restored.
