  • Excellent Cased Colt 1860 Army Rare Confederate Purchase. Made in 1861. Absolutely stunning Colt 1860 Fluted Army. 95% of the original blue and bright case colors on the frame. Grips are excellent. Gun is in a fantastic case with excellent accessories. This gun comes with a factory letter where it says that this gun was shipped on April 15th, 1861 to Peter Williams and Company in Richmond, VA. This was 2 days after Ft. Sumter which was the first battle that ignited the Civil War and this gun along with 471 others were shipped to a Southern shipping address. In the newly released book The Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver by Charles Pate, he has identified the guns shipped to Peter Williams and Company as being a Confederate Contract and the last shipment south by Colt. So not only is this an extremely fined Cased Colt 1860 Fluted Army, it is also a Confederate Contract gun. Accompanying this gun is a copy of the factory letter as well as copies from the pages of the new book about Colt 1860 Armies.

The silver is on protected areas. The gold is mostly just on the lever. The engraving is nice and sharp. Very well done. Cylinder scene is excellent. Thinning blue on the backstrap and excellent brass on the trigger guard. The grips are correct original Colt 1860 Army martially marked replacement grips. The condition matches the gun, but the grips are little undersized and the number on the inside is different from the serial number. Top notch condition!

Exceptional condition with 97% of the original blue, strong case colors on the trigger guard and backstrap. Grips are excellent. All numbers match. Action works perfect and locks up tight. Gun looks fantastic. Comes with original black leather holster. This gun was issued to Elisha Whitford of the 1st Rhode Island Cavalry. He mustered in December of 1861 and mustered out in November of 1864. The 1st Rhode Island Cavalry fought in the 2nd Battle of Bull Run, and the Chancellorsville Campaign. Gun is very well documented. It has where the gun was issued to the soldier by serial number, the soldier’s muster rolls and the unit history. Very historic gun in excellent condition!

  • Colt 1860 Army Fluted Cylinder Revolver. Made in 1861. This gun has a nice smooth even brown patina on metal. All numbers match. There is a hole in the right hand side bottom grip, maybe for some sort of lanyard? This is a no record gun unfortunately. A lot of these early fluted guns went to some interesting places like Richmond, Va. and New Orleans. Unfortunately, there is no way to know. Grips are very good and there is an “A” carved in the left hand side of the grip by the frame. Very neat all original Colt Fluted Army!
