Colt Black Powder Single Action .44-40 (C13279)

Colt Black Powder Single Action .44-40 caliber revolver. Manufactured in 1883, this is .44-40 caliber with a 5 ½” barrel is in very good condition and action works perfectly. The gun was re-nickeled long ago and still retains 98% of the nickel. The grips are leather covered! These are the only leather covered grips we have seen. The leather is stitched on the reverse, over the Colt hard rubber grips! This gun was from the Inter-Urban Queen Collection. The Inter-Urban was a train that ran from Galveston Island to Houston in the 1920’s. There was a newsstand that sold candy and other items and it was the Inter-Urban Queen. People would donate to the gun collection on the wall and it became an attraction in Galveston. We recently purchased the collection which has been packed away for over 80 years. This Single Action is a neat piece of old Galveston history.
