  • Colt Factory Engraved Long Flute Single Action Army .45 LC Caliber Pistol. Extremely Rare Factory Engraved Colt Single Action Army Long Flute made in 1915. Only 10-11 of these guns are known to be factory engraved with the long flute double action cylinder. Colt was using up the cylinders from the Colt 1878 DA’s after that gun was discontinued. Approximately 900 or so of these guns were made with the long flute cylinder, but only a few were factory engraved. At one time it was published that only 4 of these long flute guns were factory engraved, but since then more of them have surfaced. This gun is in excellent condition with 95%+ of the original nickel finish. The main concentration of finish lost is on the cylinder which is just minor flaking. This gun letters as seen being factory engraved with a 4 3/4” barrel, in .45 LC, with nickel finish, factory engraved, furnished with a double action cylinder and shipped to Shapleigh Hardware in St. Louis. • Colt Factory Engraved Single Action Army .45 LC Caliber Pistol. Factory Engraved Colt Single Army Action made in 1929. Near mint factory engraved Colt Single Action Army. Gun has 99% of the original factory blue and bright case colors on the frame. This is a Wilbur Glahn engraved gun and comes with a factory letter. It initially left the factory in October of 1929 and was shipped to Alker-Donovan Company in New Orleans, La. It was returned to have the grips changed out and was then shipped to B.H. Dyas Company in Los Angeles, Ca. It was once again returned and switched out with pearl grips before finally being shipped to E.S. Sporting Good in Austin, Texas. On one of these returns, the barrel was changed from a 5 ½” to a 4 ¾”. Or there was an error in the factory ledger that recorded this gun as 5 ½” when it was originally 4 ¾”. Typically, when a gun goes back to the factory, this indicated it to be a show gun. This is possible, or this was a gun that was hard to sell due to the cost and the great depression. This gun is all factory original. There has been no refinishing whatsoever. Grips are beautiful pearl carved steer heads. Absolute all original factory engraved Single Action shipped to Texas!

The “U.S.” on the left hand side of the frame has been obliterated during the time of use. John Kopec suggests the gun was captured by Indians which is not something you normally find in one of his letters. This gun comes with a Kopec letter that mentions minor modifications that were done in the period of use and Kopec calls this gun “an honest old Cavalry Colt”. This gun was found in Texas a number of years ago and we can write a letter stating that if the buyer wishes.

  • Colt Black Powder Single Action .44 caliber revolver. Action works perfectly. Bore has good rifling. This is an interesting gun. The frame is military inspected by D.F.C. (David F. Clark). It also has a “C” for condemned. Barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard match, backstrap does not. Grips do not. So, what we have here is a military inspected, condemned frame .44 caliber revolver (marked .44 on the trigger guard and on the underside of the barrel). It also has a very weak U.S. on the frame which, in our opinion was put on later, or just lightly stamped. We think “put on later” is more likely. Barrel length is 5 ¼”. Barrel address is worn and partially visible. Taken altogether, this is a very interesting revolver. How did it come to be a .44 when it started off as a military U.S. inspected gun? Possibly sold by Colt as a condemned U.S. and converted to a .44-.40 (no etch panel on the barrel).
