Circia 1880’s – 1890’s. Grosse hilt. Rayskin grip with wire wrap. The wire wrap is broken in a few places. Blade is Elsenhauer steel. Back of blade is marked “M.Nuemann Hoflieferant Berlin”. Lion head pommel has knuckle bow, terminates in mouth. Langet has cross canons, denoting issued to artillery officer. Opposite langet is marked “Gornig”. Knuckle bow has a knight with feathers and armor. Very good overall condition

Brass has a fine old patina. Blade is approximately 36” long measured by a straight line from the point to the front of the hilt not allowing for any curvature of the blade. Blade has some overall pitting and has nicks in the edge. This sword almost certainly saw battle use. No scabbard with the sword. Very colorful and collectable Civil War sword.
