U.S. Militia Officers Sword (SW1207)

U.S. Militia Officers Sword. Circa 1830’s-1840’s. Blade is approximately 29” with foliate and a federal eagle in center. Overall length is approximately 36”. Ricosso is marked “N.P. Ames Cutler Springfield”. Helmet head pommel. Two-chain knuckle guard connected at the pommel and quillion. Counter guard is fancy with an Indian holding a bow and arrow. Scabbard is very good plus, no dent or dings, and has a panoply of arms with liberty hat and an eagle holding a shield. An early Ames made sword!
