U.S. Springfield 1870 Trapdoor .50-70 caliber Rifle (AL4462)

U.S. Springfield 1870 Trapdoor .50-70 caliber rifle. U.S. Springfield Trapdoor rifle .50-70. Barrel has light pitting in some areas, bore is excellent. Receiver and breech block are in original factory black. Hammer and lock plate have beautiful case coloring. This rifle is one of the first one-thousand rifles made for the model 1870 from October 1870 to March 1871. We know this to be one of the first thousand. This is due to the rear sight being next to the receiver and the breech block does not have the word “model” 1870. This didn’t happen until the second line of production came out. Stock is in very good condition with cartouches present. Minor dings from storage and handling wear. Overall a great looking rifle.
