Japanese Letter Opener. Meiji period very fine work. Mythological figure holding bell striker with tiara mou overhead. Signed. On reverse is bats, lightning bolts and clouds. Overall length is 11”. Produced by former sword fitting makers after Haitorei Edict of 1876 forbidding the wearing of samurai swords. Mixed metal is copper and brass.
