Beautiful Winchester Model 1883 Hotchkiss .45-70 caliber rifle. Barrel has a bluish/brown patina. Receiver retains case colors. Bore is excellent with a mirror finish. Stock is good, with minor storage and handling wear. Bolt is curved and cleaning rod entrance plugged. These modifications are seen in Californian militia guns bought in 1915. Scarce Winchester Hotchkiss 3rd Model 1883 carbine. Carbine has beautiful case coloring on the receiver. Bore is dark and does have a ring inside. Carbine is not safe to shoot! Stock is in great shape, shows minor handling wear. Carbine has been refinished.A very good example of a scarce carbine.
