Winchester - Model 1866

Serial number 42366. Made in 1870. 44 RF caliber with a 27” barrel. The metal has been cleaned and the wood has been refinished. This gun was most likely from the South American contract.

Serial number 110262. Made in 1873. 44 RF caliber with a 24” barrel. Barrel is nice and sharp with a light brown patina. Brass has a dark patina. Wood is very good. Action works well. Magazine is approximately an ½” short.

Serial number 99869. Made in 1872. 44 RF caliber with a 20” barrel. Metal has a dark bluish gray patina. Wood has been repaired. (Consignment)

Serial number 154370. Made in 1880. 44 CF caliber Barrel has a gray patina with some pitting. Frame is nicely engraved in a factory pattern. The wood is replacements. The tang has been repaired and the serial number is restamped.

Serial number124575. Made in 1874. 44 CF caliber with a 24” barrel. The barrel has a gray patina. The frame is nicely engraved. The butt stock is a replacement.

Serial number 118704. Made in 1874. 44 RF caliber with a 24” barrel. Barrel has been cleaned to an even gray patina.. Frame is cleaned as well. Butt stock is off of a Winchester 1873.

Serial number 40649. Made in 1870. 44 RF caliber with a 27” barrel. The barrel has a brownish gray patina throughout. Action works perfectly.  Wood is very good as refinished.

Serial number 40019. Made in 1870. 44 CF caliber with a 26 ½” barrel.  Barrel has been shortened ½” an inch and is missing the last barrel band. Barrel has a dark brown to gray patina. Wood is very good s refinished.

Serial number 80496. Made in 1871. 44 RF caliber with a 24” barrel. Barrel has an even brown patina. Wood has been refinished and the butt stock is from a Winchester 1873 carbine.

Serial number 47972. Made in 1870. 44 CF caliber with a 20” barrel. This gun has period engraving on the receiver and butt plate. The engraving is very light and consists of borders and scroll work. The barrel has a light gray patina. Brass is untouched and has the original uncleaned patina. Wood is very good overall. Consignment.

Serial number 25004. Made in 1869. 44 RF caliber with a 20” barrel. This gun is assembled out of parts and is missing the hammer, screws and possibly internals. Buttstock is replacement wood. This could make a good project gun! Consignment.

Serial number 163277. Made in 1883. 44 RF caliber with a 20” barrel. Metal has a dark brown patina. Side plates are replacements. The stock shows some repairs and is original Winchester 1866 wood, but not original to this gun. The bolt has been modified with a screw, so there is no firing pin. Consignment.

Serial number 8010. Made circa early 1870s. 44 CF caliber with a 20” barrel. Barrel has a light bray patina with no visible markings. There appears to be disguised repairs near the frame. The butt stock is a replacement. The frame has a very large cut out on the top where the bolt travels through. We are not sure of the purpose. Consignment.

Serial number 80140, Made in 1871. 44 CF caliber with a 20” barrel. This gun has a dark gray patina on the barrel with scattered pitting. Frame shows normal handling wear. Stocks are deluxe well executed copies. Consignment.

Serial number 114081. Made in the 1870s-1880s. 44 RF caliber with a 20” barrel. This gun has a restamped serial number on a repaired tang. Metal has a dark gray to black patina. Wood is replacements. Consignment.

Serial number 13292. Made in 1866. 44 CF Caliber with a 20” barrel. This gun has a dark brown patina on the barrel. This gun shows heavy uses. The forearm is possibly replaced or heavily modified. Serial number 47309. Made in 1870. 44 RF caliber with a 20” barrel. Metal has a dark gray patina. Forearm is replaced. Frame has been repaired. The loading gate is a replacement. Stock shows dry age cracks. 

Serial number 119986. Made in 1874. 44 RF caliber with a 24” barrel. Nice sharp gun with a gray to brown patina on the barrel. Brass is very good. Wood is an original Winchester 1866 stock, but is numbered to a different gun. Consignment.

Serial number 32098. Made in 1870.  44 RF caliber with a 27” barrel. Barrel has a smooth even bluish gray patina. Action has replaced side plates that have a much smaller opening for a cartridge. Wood is good as refinished. Consignment.
