Opposite side is marked "United States Marines" Ivory grips are secured with star rivets. Scabbard has light pin-prick surface oxidation noted. Further research would be need on J.A.Deager. Ricasso is marked "US/JCR" opposite side marked "N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1845". Hilt is a single brass knuckle guard ending to a rounded quillion.
