Beautiful Engraved Winchester 1866 Rifle (AW62)

Beautiful Engraved Winchester 1866 Rifle. Early gun made in 1869. This is an original 1866 that has been engraved like a famous engraved L.D. Nimschke 1866 Winchester. The left-hand side of the gun has a scene of an Indian riding off with a frontierswoman while a frontiersman is shooting at the Indian from his log cabin. The right-hand side of the gun has the name “Charles A. Messiter”. The engraving is of excellent quality, and the silver plating Is nicely tarnished. The barrel has excellent original blue. This scene is well illustrated on page 60 (upper-right) in the L. D. Nimschcke Firearms Engraver book by R. L. Wilson.
