Dated 1842. Early pattern lock crown VR and tower marked and dated on lock. The overall condition. Very good plus. Action works perfectly. Stock is very good plus with sharp edges and has 2 or 3 tiny dings. No cracks or chips lock markings are sharp and clear. Barrel has a captive Ramrod. Bottom of butt is missing the lanyard ring stud. This is a very hard to find coast guard pistol in fine condition.

Good example of French 1777. Barrel has a light gray patina with spots of light pitting. Brass has a dark mustard color patina. St. Etienne marking is nice and clear below the hammer. St. Etienne was one of the three arsenals that made these pistols. Wood is very good. Belt clip is missing. The first American pistol made by North & Cheney were copy of the French 1777. Presumably some of these could have made their way to the revolutionary war efforts and most US Martial collectors substitute a French model 1777 for the North & Cheney. Nice gun!

Right side of frame is marked B.A.R. and “Patent 6063” in a diamond. Barrel rib is marked “W. Watson & Sons .308, High Holborn, London”. Left side of frame is stamped No. 120 and was obviously stamped later. No other numbers on frame or cylinder. Bore is excellent as is the action. Grips show wear but no cracks or chips.
