This is the large frame  Zig-Zag Named by collectors because the Zig-Zag feature of the cylinder rotated the cylinder upon cocking as it Rode on a stud that made the cylinder advance to the next chamber upon farcin pull of the hammer. Revolver has approximately 93-95% original blue. Original grips have excellent checkering. Grips have No chips or cracks. Action works perfectly. Cylinder has 95-97% of its Nitre or fire blue. Good example of French 1777. Barrel has a light gray patina with spots of light pitting. Brass has a dark mustard color patina. St. Etienne marking is nice and clear below the hammer. St. Etienne was one of the three arsenals that made these pistols. Wood is very good. Belt clip is missing. The first American pistol made by North & Cheney were copy of the French 1777. Presumably some of these could have made their way to the revolutionary war efforts and most US Martial collectors substitute a French model 1777 for the North & Cheney. Nice gun!
