New England Percussion Rifle .50 caliber rifle. Made by R.S. Lawrence of Windsor, VT, marked on top barrel flat and on lock. Caliber is .50. Bore is mutigroove rifling and is excellent. Barrel length is 36”. R.S. Lawrence, born 1817 and died 1892. He held numerous patents for sights, breech loading firearms as Kendall and Lawrence, Robbins Kendall and Lawrence, and Robbins and Lawrence 1849-1856. Superintendent of Sharps Rifle Co. 1856-1872. Cheekpiece, side plate, and barrel key escutcheons are German silver. This is a handsome .50 caliber rifle made by one of the most prominent gunmakers of the period.
