Allen and Wheelock Center Hammer Lipfire Army .44 Lipfire Caliber. Estimated production of only 250 revolvers. Manufactured in the 1860’s. 7 ½” half round half octagon barrel. We cannot find serial number other than “25” stamped on the inside of the grips. There is no Allen and Wheelock address or name on the barrel and never had one. Action works perfectly. Bore has good Rifling and corrosion in the grooves. This is the 1st Model variation with the Loading Gate hinged at the top. (2nd variation hinged at the bottom ) Metal has approximately 20% blue fading and even patina being the rest. Grips are very good. No cracks or chips. Rare and unusual Allen!
