Prototype Colt Los Angeles Police Dept Special Edition Series 70 .45 ACP caliber pistol. This Colt Government Model Series 70 .45 pistol is the prototype produced for the Los Angeles Police Department Special Edition in 1980. This gun has been in the personal collection of the owner of the company who commissioned these guns from Colt, and comes with a letter from the owner explaining the history of the gun and its development. These guns were only sold to officers of the LAPD. The gun is new, unfired with the original box and presentation case. Also included is a framed copy of the artist’s sketch that Colt provided for approval, as well as a framed copy of the print ad for the edition. A neat and historical set, all in as new condition.
