Japanese Helment (Kabuto). Myochin Suji Kabuto. Edo Period. Constructed of 62 plates and lacquered russet brown. The crown is decorated with four state spacers (Tehen Kanamono) of gilt copper. The bowl is fitted with a four plate shikoro with bluish green lacing. The sides of the bowl are decorated with dark blue doe-skin (Fukigaeshi). The maedate is a round copper ornament. The mempo is in two sections with a removable nose plate with a stiff bristle mustache. The mask is a lacquered russet brown with ishime finish. The throat guard (Yodarekake) is five plated with blue lacing. This kabuto is signed: Nobu Yoshi. Display stand included.
