Indian Trade Fusil by Parker, Field & Co. Made for the Hudson’s Bay Company. The overall length is 58”. The octagon to round barrel with two “wedding bands” is 42¼. The approximately .60 caliber smoothbore barrel has a very good bore. The bright metal is fine overall with very little age patina. Stock is fine with sharp edges. There is an old missing chip approximately ¼” in size to the right rear of the barrel tang. Flintlock is marked in curved letters “Parker Field” over a straight line and “Co / 1875” over London in a curve. The center of the lock has the tombstone fox/ EB stamp. Barrel top-flat also has the tombstone fox/ EB stamp. The left-flat has the London proof mark of a crown over “GP” followed by “24” (bore size) followed by a crown over “V” proof. The right-side of the stock toward the butt has a ½” circular stamp of a fox. The heavy brass butt plate is secured by five screws. The iron trigger guard is mounted on the surface of the stock. There are multi-grooved ramrod thimbles. There are three “tears” behind the lock plate, tang, and side plate. The side plate is in the form of a dragon, which originated on early colonial fowlers. Parker, Field and Company made trade guns for Hudson’s Bay Company from 1841 to at least 1875. Here’s your chance to acquire one of the nicest Indian trade guns we have seen, probably because it was obsolete in 1875! You could not improve on this fine India trade fusil.
