Fine Over/Under German Combination Gun by E. Eckart in Bamberg. The overall length is approximately 46”. The 29¾” octagon percussion approximately .52 caliber rifle barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. The 29¾” round with flat top 52” smoothbore shotgun barrel has a good bore. All metal is smooth and bright with light staining. The rifle barrel is marked “E.Eckart” on the top flat and the shotgun top flat is marked “Bamberg”( a town in North Bavaria). The barrels are lightly engraved on either side of the markings. The action features nipple protectors and double set triggers. The barrels are rotated by pressing the front of the trigger guard while rotating them. The brass furniture and the stock are fine. The stock features a wooden patchbox, fine checkering at the wrist and incised carving along the butt bottom and sides of the forend. There is a sling swivel in the bottom of the butt. The stock has a raised cheekpiece with brass trim along the edge. The forend has three brass trim pieces on the left and right. The left side of the butt stock has a 3½” brass trim piece opposite the lock. The action functions correctly. The rifle barrel has the original front and rear sights. The shotgun barrel has a spider front and notch rear sight. This is a great example of a 1840/50’s German over/under combination gun. Don’t miss it!
