Colt 1860 Army Old West Revolver .44 Caliber (AC67)
Colt 1860 Army Old West Revolver .44 Caliber. Colt Old West revolver and “Slim Jim” holster rig. The Colt is an 1860 Army .44 caliber Percussion revolver altered for post-Civil War use out in the West. The 1860 Army has the barrel altered to 5 7/8”. The front sight has been reinstalled as a western “Bat Wing” with blade or Rocky Mountain style sight. The grips are mellow checkered ivory and give this revolver the feel of an old west revolver. Note: The Colt Model Single Action of 1873 had not arrived on the western scene and many Civil War revolvers were altered to accommodate the market. The serial numbers all match except for the wedge which is unnumbered. The cylinder scene is very good and easily visible. The barrel address is excellent. The “Slim Jim” holster is correct for the period and is carved in a motif of flowers and leaves. The holster is about an inch and a half long but fits the revolver very well. Many holster rigs such as this were prized collector’s items back in the 1950’s and 60’s and remained in well-known collections. This is an iconic Old West set. Just ask any old timer.
