Winchester First Model Hotchkiss Saddle Ring Carbine (AW83)

Winchester First Model Hotchkiss Saddle Ring Carbine. Comes with a factory letter. The overall length is approximately 44” the 24” round, 45.10 centerfire caliber. Barrel has a fine bright bore with frosting in the grooves. All metal is a smooth blue/brown. The stock is very good with the usual stress crack around the action. It also has usage nicks and dings. The front sight blade is a replacement. There is a rack number, 40 forward of the buttplate tang, the magazine follower is present. The action, including the safety and magazine cutoff, functions correctly. The factory letter states that this Saddle Ring carbine was shipped on July 22/1882. This is an above average first model Hotchkiss Saddle Ring Carbine.
