Colt Beech Single Action Army “Buntline” 16 Inch Carbine .45LC caliber carbine. Made in 1876. Has a 16” .45 LC caliber barrel, original. Metal is an even brown patina with some pin point pitting. Grips are very good. Top strap has been dove tailed for a rear sight. Front sight is a Beech style flip sight. The cylinder is numbered to a different gun, but matches the condition of this gun perfectly. The ejector rod housing shows nickel plating on the inside therefore it is not original to this gun. Grips are all original and in very good condition. This is a famous gun that comes out of the legendary Gaines De Graffenreid collection. Mr. De Graffenreid bought this gun out of Cameron, TX, from an owner of an automotive repair shop. This gun comes with a binder full of provenance and letters of authentication. One of the most important documents is from noted author and Colt Single Action Army expert, Ron Graham. He declares this gun to be authentic, except for a minor alteration listed above. There is also a letter from the son of the original owner whose father acquired this gun in 1885 or 1886. Additionally, this gun has been in several museums: The Amon Carter Museum, The Texas Ranger Museum, and most recently The Frazier Museum in Louisville, KY. In fact, this gun was sold to The Frazier Museum for over $100,000. The gun has been featured in several articles and is prominently featured in the book, The Texas Collector: Gaines De Graffenreid, by Roger Conger. This is a great historical Colt Single Action Army long barrel!
