Cased Pair of Devisme Style Double Barreled Percussion Pistols (AH5881)
This is a wonderful matched pair of cased rifled double barrel Devisme style pistols. The following description applies to both pistols. The overall length is approx. 7". The 4" octagon 36 caliber barrels have strong bright, rifled bores. They feature a separate powder chamber that the bullet seats on top of. The barrels are finished in a brown Damascus pattern. They feature blow out plugs. The breeches and action are finished in French gray. The actions, hammers, breech top, breech tang, trigger area, and butt cap have decorative engraving. The folding triggers are so well fitted that they are almost undetectable. There is a rear sight on the barrel tang and front sight on the center rib. The butt cap is turned one quarter turn and pulled out to use as the rammer. The French walnut stocks are fine. The actions function correctly with the first trigger pull firing the right barrel and the second the left. Internally, these fine pistols are marked Laleyr [and] fils (sons). The walnut case measures approx. 11" X 6.5" X 2.75". It has an a nicely done monogram on the top. The French style interior is faded but is in very good condition. Included are a small fluted flask in excellent condition, a conical bullet mold, a screwdriver, and several bullets.
