This interesting Wilson breech-loading percussion 577 caliber rifle is dated 1873. It is virtually identical to those used by the Confederacy during the Civil War. The round approx. 33.5" barrel has a fine bright bore with strong rifling and light frosting in the grooves. It is marked with three Birmingham proof marks and the 25 caliber (577) designation. All the metal is a smooth blue/brown. The lock is marked 1873/TOWER with the crown at the tail. The top of the sliding breechblock has a small triangle with T.W./P enclosed within. The stock is very good with light handling dents and dings and no cracks or chips. The swivels, nipple protector, and ramrod oar present. The action functions correctly. This gun is attractively priced at about a third of what a Civil War era Wilson would cost. Fill that hole in your collection with this one!
