This Whitney State of New York flintlock 69 caliber musket was made circa 1814. The overall length is approx. 57.5". The 42" round barrel has a dark smooth bore. All the metal has a smooth brown patina with a few areas of roughness on the barrel, cock, lock, and bands. The buttplate has moderate pitting from being stored in a moist area. The barrel has the Whitney raised P in a sunken oval proof mark. The lock is marked NEW HAVEN in a ribbon forward of the cock. The bell shaped swivels and ramrod are present. The stock is very good with no cracks or chips. It has the State of New York circular cartouche with scalloped edges with V over BY over I.M inside. The I.M stands for inspector John McLean. The action functions correctly. This is a very nice overall State of New York War of 1812 Whitney musket.
