These muskets were used in the Civil War. This Belgian 69 caliber percussion musket is a copy of the French Model 1857. The overall length is approx. 56.25". The approx. 40.5" round barrel has a fair dark smooth bore with roughness. All the metal is smooth and bright with brown staining. The barrel has a mounted blade front sight and a block rear sight mounted to the barrel tang. The barrel has three small crown over W and the Belgian oval ELG proofs. The back action lock is unmarked. The butt plate, trigger guard, and middle band have crown over W proofs. The stock is good with issue dents and dings, a small piece missing along the barrel on the left between the front and middle bands, and a strong crown over W cartouche on the right butt. The swivels, ramrod, and cone protector are present. The action functions correctly. Many of these Belgian muskets were used in the Civil War.
