Saddle ring carbine is in very fine condition. This is the scarce "Model 1867" which has a spring loaded firing pin. Of the approximately 31,000 carbines converted, only 1,900 were the early type. This carbine has its original six groove barrel with an excellent bore. The barrel has 98% of it's arsenal finish; which is a please blue/brown. The receiver and lock are fine with visible case colors. The buttstock has the banner DFC conversion cartouche. A dent on top and old rack disc numbered 13 (repeated on top of the receiver), and other light use marks. The forearms is fine with the exception of a 1" dent about half way on the bottom. The lock markings are strong. There are inspectors marks on the barrel (C and E.A.W.), sling bar attachment (WH), action bottom (X), Pivot pin (C), and bottom of stock to the rear of the trigger guard dang (M and C). All screw heads are pristine. The saddle ring is present. Due to the arsenal refinishing during conversion, the barrel marks and patent stamps on the receiver appear light. The action functions correctly. This is a great example of an Indian Wars Sharps .50-70 centerfire saddle ring carbine that saw a little, but not too much use. It would be a good fit in any Indian Wars or Sharps collection. Examples as nice as this one don' come along very often.
