The Modello 1874 was the first handgun adopted by the military forces of the Kingdom of Italy. It is very similar to the French Model 1874 and is chambered for the 10.35mm cartridge. The 6.3" octagon barrel has a very good bore with bright rifling and light erosion. The right flat is marked with an S and two proof marks. It has a blade front and notch rear sight. The left side of the receiver is marked GLISENTI in an arc over a shield over BRESCIA signifying that this revolver was manufactured by Siderugica Glisenti of Brescia. The right side is marked with the serial number, 3026, several proof marks, and at the rear M 56. The trigger guard has an S and proof mark. The revolver is a smooth gray-brown with areas of light roughness. The checkered grips show wear commensurate with the overall condition but have no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly in both single and double action. Interestingly, the Italian Army used the Modello 1874 from the 1870s into WWII. This is a good example for an Italian or European military pistol collection.
