Swedish Model 1845 Navy Pistol (AH6482)
The Swedish Model 1845 Navy belt hook percussion pistol is rarely seen today. The overall length is approx. 15.5". The 9.5" round 63 caliber smooth bore barrel has a good bore with light roughness. The barrel has a brass blade front sight. The notched block rear sight is part of the barrel tang. There is a small OAO followed by a larger GHE just forward of the bolster. An F is to the left of the bolster. The left side of the barrel is stamped 42. The lock is unmarked. The hammer is notched for a dog latch, the top of which is broken off. The metal is bright with scattered staining. The brass band, trigger guard, and butt cap have an even aged patina. The lanyard loop and ring and ramrod are present. The iron belt hook is 5.25" long. The stock, which appears to be dark-stained birch, is good with the dents and dings expected of an issue naval weapon but with no cracks and only a very small chip at the front of the lock. The right grip has a 3/8" circle with an X inside. The action functions properly. Don't miss this one. I doubt that you will ever encounter another one!
