1796 Style Officer’s Cavalry Saber Sword (SW1340)
A very handsome 1796 Officer’s cavalry saber and scabbard with reverse “P” guard, black leather and wire wrapped grip with what is very nearly a pistol pommel extension, and plain langets. The hilt is iron with no ears on the backstrap, and the hilt may have originally been blued. The curved blade has a pronounced clipped point. The strongly curved blade is decorated with blue and gold, with generic decorations of florals, vines, and trophies of arms with no national distinctions.
