Early 98 manufactured in 1900 at the Spandau arsenal. Rifle was re-worked in 1916. Stock is dated 16 with arsenal markings behind trigger guard. Serial numbers are matching as re-worked. Bore has strong rifling and is dark in the grooves. A desirable early 98.
