British 1796 Light Cavalry Officer’s Sword (SW1372)
An extremely fine 1796 light cavalry officer’s sword and scabbard, with beautiful blue and gold decorated blade marked “G. Keller” and “Solingen” under the langets. The iron hilt is the standard for its form reverse “P” guard, birds head pommel, with no ears to the backstrap, and plain langets, and a black leather wrapped grip with two strands of twisted wire in the grooves of the grip. The blade is in remarkable condition, retaining most of its beautiful blue and gold decoration, which features florals and trophies of arms with no national distinctions. The bright section of the blade retains its bright polish.
