Remington U.S. Navy Model 1867 Carbine Copy (AL5454)
Price: $1,395.00
Item Number:
AL5454

This much better than average copy of the rare U.S. Navy Model 1867 Remington rolling block carbine has an original barrel, forend, and band. The 23.25" round 50-45 centerfire caliber barrel has a fine bore with brigt, strong rifling. The barrel has the correct blade front sight with the rear sight being avsent. It is correctly serial numbered 299 on the left at the breech and thas the Navy anchor on top in the chamber area. The barrel retains approx. 90% of its blue. The action has the later rotary extractor and the three line Remington Arms Company tang marking ending with an 1874 date, obiously too late for an original carbine action. The bottomof the barrel has been flattened at the breech so the later flat bottom breech block will function. The action and other metal parts have a smooth brown patina with a few areas of scattered pitting. The action is devoid of Navy inspector markings. The butt stock is very good with no chips or cracks and overall light wear. It does not have a sling swivel. The original forend is very good with no chips or cracks, light wear, and a strong inspection cartouche on the riight. It has been modified slightly at the frame to fit the later action. The original band fits perfectly and has the U on the side. The action functions correctly with the exception that the hammer has to be held back slightly in order to open the breech block. Add a sling swivel to the butt stock and a rear sight and you will have a gun that is virtually identical visually to the rare U.S. Navy Model 1867 carbine with an original barrel, band, and forend, and at a MUCH lower price.
