Italian Snaphaunce Pistol(AH6537)

52 caliber with a  13", fluted octagon barrel at breach end & transitions to 16 sided through turned wedding band & terminates in cannon muzzle. Snaphaunce lock has arched plate & rnd. body with removable pan having sliding cover. Cock is filed in fancy pattern & striking plate (frizzen) is held by carved dragon head. Lock plate engraved & chased w/ human figures & faces. Cock retaining screw is also relief engraved w/ a grotesque face. Stock of fiddle figured walnut has relief carvings around lock & side plates as well as bbl. tang. Stock is pinned to bbl. & extends to w/ in 3/8" of muzzle & is iron mounted. Mounts include spurred bulbous grip cap, fancy pierced & dragon engraved side plate. Trigger guard w/ speer finial & wood ramrod w/ fancy turned tip held by multi beaded pipe & matching thimble. CONDITION: fair to good. Metal parts cleaned to silver gray w/ some scattered pitting. Wood has been restored the last 4” to the muzzle.
