Belgian Flintlock Military Musketoon (AL7019)
This Belgian flintlock musketoon is circa early 19th century. It is approx. 46.5" in overall length. The 31.5" round 70 caliber barrel has a good bore with areas of roughness. It has a bottom bayonet stud 1 1/8" from the muzzle. All the metal is a smooth gray-brown. The barrel has the oval Belgian ELG proof mark on top and reading from the breech at the left a small crown over VA followed by a large T.C. followed by a small 16. The lock is unmarked. The stock is good with a couple of missing chips along the ramrod channel, a deep ding in the hollowed cheek piece, moderate dssue dents and dings, T.C. over 16 on the left butt, an unreadable scroll type inspection on the left, and large script RP on the right rear. The butt plate has been cleaned and has moderate roughness. The swivels are present and the ramrod is absent. The action functions correctly. This interesting example of a Belgian-made French style musketoon is ready for any European military long arms colletion.
