The 8mm Type 94 Japanese pistol was manufactured from 1935 to 1945. Approx. 70,000 were manufactured, about half the number of the much more common Type 14 Nambu pistol. The 3.8" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun retains approx. 92% blue with the grip straps turning. The left lower frame has three Japanese characters above the grip followed by the characters for safe and fire at the safety lever. The right side of the frame is marked from the rear reading forward with a Japanese character followed by 13.12 (December, 1938) followed by the Nagoya Arsenal logo followed by the serial number. All visible serial numbers, including the magazine, match. The checkered black plastic grips are excellent. The action functions correctly. The brown leather holster is very good with its leather straps. With the exception of the plug that covers the magazine when the pistol is in the holster, all stiching is tight. This is a great example of a Type 94 rig before production quality deteriorated as the war wore on. This would fill the gap in any Japanese Type 94 pistol collection for a super pre-WWII example. The pistol would be almost impossible to improve upon.
