Mauser byf 44 P.38 Rig (PR57109)
This is a scarce second alphabet run, first variation Mauser byf 44 P.38 rig. Only about 25,000 were produced from early July into September 1944 and many were lost during the war. The 4.75" 9mm barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun retains approx. 92% wartime blue with the expected service wear. The left side of the slide is marked P.38 followed by byf over 44 followed by the serial number 748a. The serial number is repeated above the forward bow of the trigger guard with an eagle over WaA135 Waffenamt to the right. Two eagle over WaA135 Waffenamts along with a very light eagle firing proof are also on the right side of the slide. The dark brown plastic grips are excellent with no warpage. The magazine is marked jvd. The action functions correctly. The brown holster is fair with external wear and a short tie down strap. It has a Waffenamt and P.38 on the rear. The spare magazine is numbered and Waffenamt inspected. Thie is a good representative rig with a scarce pistol.
