This Model 1900 American Eagle 7.65mm (30 Luger) caliber pistol is one of 1,000 bought in 1902 by the U.S. Army for troop trials. Ultimately, the John Browning designed U.S. Model 1911 was adopted. This Model 1900 Luger, serial number 7588, has all the characteristics of the trials pistols in that it has the American Eagle over the chanmber and does NOT have German proof marks and is NOT marked Germany or Made in Germany like its comercial counterparts. The 4.75" barrel has an excellent bore with light frosting in the grooves. The gun has approx. 92% blue with high point wear, thinning on the barrel, and brown gripstraps. The straw parts retain approx. 95% starw colors. The grips show the expected light wear of a trials gun. All parts, including the grips, are matching. The right rear of the frame has T+ scratched on it. This is repeated on the inside of one grip and on the correct wood base magazine bottom. The action functions correctly. These U.S. Model 1900 trials Luger pistols are very rare, especially in the very nice overall condition of this gun. Priced very reasonably for a U.S. Trials gun.
