This 22 Short caliber Winchester Model 1906 rifle is circa 1908. In August 1908, Winchester chambered the Model 1906 for the 22 short, long, or long rifle cartridges interchangeably. This rilfle has the correct features of the 22 Short only caliber gun. This includes the specially marked receiver with an A below the serial number, the 22 short only cartridge lifter, and the 22 SHORT marked barrel. The 20" round barrel has a fine bright bore with light erosion in a couple of areas.  Usually the Model 1906 22 Short rifles have terrible bores so this one is unusual. The barrel is a mix of blue turning to brown and the receiver and trigger housing retain approx. 92% of their bright blue with losses at the tangs and edges. The sights are the standard blade front and  patent marked elevation screw adjustable rear.  The serial number on the frame and trigger housing matches. The stock is very good to fine with much of its original finish and light wear. The hard rubber buttplate has a couple of dents through the Winchester logo. The fine forend is of the early smooth style. The action functions correctly. This is a much better than average Model 1906, especially in 22 Short. This very scarce 22 Short Model 1906 is ready for your 22 rifle or Winchester collection.
