Model 1864 Burnside Civil War Carbine (AL5957)

This is a good, representative 54 caliber percussion Model 1864 Burnside carbine. The 21" barrel has a fair bore with visible rifling and pitting throughout. All the metal is bright with light staining. The correct front and rear sights are present. The top of the action is marked BURNSIDE PATENT over MODEL OF 1864. The buttstock is sound with issue dents and dings, no chips or cracks, and two very visible cartouches. The forearm is good with old cracks forward of the band. The action functions correctly. Every Civil War collection should have a Burnside carbine.
