NSN, circa 1770's, .62 caliber, 11.5" octagonal to round barrel. Continental Army Officers pistol that was captured by the British. Side plate is inscribed with "Taken at Brandywine Creek by Officers of 46th Regt. of Foot 11th Sept, 1777". Metal and iron parts are a dull light grey patina with some scattered oxidation noted on the barrel. Lock plate is marked "Hartmann". Cock holds at half and full cocking postions. Wood shows old repairs noted rear of lock plate and by the barrel tang screw. The 46th Regt. of Foot fought in many named battles during the Revolutionary War, American Weapons that were captured by the British are seldom seen!
