Serial No, B-1842-28, made in 1842, .74 caliber, 34.75" octagonal to round barrel. Serial numbers are matching throughout, barrel and other iron parts are a light grey patina. Stock displays light handling marks. Bore has strong rifling with a light surface oxidation. A pistol and breech loading carbine were also manufactured and test for the cavalry. It was determined that sometimes the percussion caps would fall off rendering the firearm useless. The carbines were pulled from service in 1855. This is the only example we have seen of a rifled musket version in our store and may be an early prototype.
