U.S. Surcharged 2nd Model Brown Bess (AL3115)

U.S. Surcharged 2nd Model Brown Bess. This is an exceedingly rare British 2nd Model Brown Bess that has the U.S. surcharge marking. This gun still has all the correct furniture. The barrel was shortened to 41 1/2". Several Brown Bess muskets are known with U.S. surcharge markings as they were captured during the American Revolution and put into service by the Americans. George Neuman, author of numerous books on early American weaponry has examined this piece and deemed the marking authentic.
