Winchester 12 12 gauge (W5398 )
Winchester 12 12 gauge shotgun. World War II Plant Guard gun. This shotgun was made in 1941. Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas needed additional guards and weapons at the outbreak of World War II. The need was immediate and Dow purchased several shotguns from local sporting goods stores in the Houston Texas area. They bought gun regardless of configuration as this one is a Skeet marked (on frame) sporting gun. Our source of information is an employee of Dow. These guns were sold off by Dow years after the war ended. Note: There is a Dow property number on the trigger guard bow. This is a most unusual and interesting World War II Defense Plant Guard Gun!
