Colt 2nd Model Dragoon (C9737)

Colt 2nd Model Dragoon. Engraved Colt 2nd Model Dragoon revolver with serial number 9923 made in 1851. Very fine condition 2nd Model Dragoon. 40-50% of the original blue on the barrel. 90% of the original cylinder scene. Traces of case colors in protected areas. There are several of these Dragoon that are known to have factory engraved levers or hammers or both. The hammers and levers were done by the apprentice engravers while the frames and flats were done by the regular factory engravers and the curved surfaces were done by the senior factory engravers or the engravers who possessed the most talent. It is thought that these were overrun parts that were used on civilian guns. The lever of this gun is definitely factory. The hammer is a real Dragoon hammer, but the engraving was done at a later date. Grips are excellent. This is a very fine Dragoon with a beautiful finish!
