Under-hammer New England Rifle with Rare Turret-Breech.
Caliber is approximately .36. Barrel is half round/half octagonal. Barrel length is 23½”. Left-side lever opens the breech for powder and bullet then closes to seal the breech. Percussion cap and hammer. Front sight is a German silver blade. Rear barrel sight is normal spring steel with elevator. Additional longer-range rear sight mounted on breech tang. Trigger guard is untouched patina brass, as is the butt plate. The stock has an elegant drop at the comb. Rifle is in very good to excellent condition. No markings as to maker. We believe it to be a Vermont or New Hampshire maker. This is just a really well-made rifle and would be a fine addition to any collection.
