Smith & Wesson Triple Lock .44 Special (PR44473)

Smith & Wesson Triple Lock .44 Special caliber revolver. Neat Triple Lock .44 revolver engraved in the Wolf & Klar style, with nickel finish. Has a 4” barrel and old yellow Catalin grips, like John Wayne used. The gun is inscribed “J.W. Wood / Ada, OKL”. J.W. Wood was mayor of Ada, Oklahoma at one time and his name has been scratched out, probably when he sold the gun. Factory records show that the gun was blued with wood grips, so J.W. Wood must have sent it to Wolf & Klar for engraving and inscription. The gun has about 95% of the applied nickel finish. The bore is very good with light pitting. An interesting old gun from the days of the wild and wooly Texas oil boom!
